My Journey as an Export Coach

I am Rishab Goyal, a proud Marwari born into a family deeply rooted in the export business. My father was engaged in exports even before I was born, starting with cycle and auto parts exports to Nigeria between 1990 and 1996. This marked the beginning of our family’s journey in international trade. Over time, we expanded our business, moving into bright bar manufacturing, which we later pivoted to scaffolding about 25 years ago. Today, our firm, SR Enterprises, exports high-quality scaffolding products such as tie rods, cuplocks, and thread rods.

A Journey of Exploration and Entrepreneurship

To expand our family’s business legacy, my father established another firm under my name, Elcon Enterprises. However, unlike him, I was never interested in exports, metals, or manufacturing. My true passion lay in IT and computers, and people often referred to me as a “geek.”

In 2008, my father ventured into the FMCG sector, but I remained uninvolved, focusing instead on my own entrepreneurial endeavors. At the age of 16, I launched my first computer institute, Oxy Comp, but due to various challenges, I had to shut it down in 2012. I then enrolled at Lovely Professional University in a Diploma + B.Tech program in Computer Science & Engineering, but I never completed my degree. I realized early on that I didn’t want to settle for a ₹35,000/month 9-to-5 job.

Failures, Lessons, and New Ventures

In 2015, I turned back to my passion for teaching and launched GeekFactory, a coaching business. The following year, in 2016, I ventured into website development and virtual tours, but I struggled with sales and fieldwork. Eventually, I shifted to clothing, launching Batmeez.com, inspired by Bewakoof. Unfortunately, this venture failed miserably.

Determined to find success, I moved into the gifting industry, launching Tohfa.gift, which turned out to be a highly successful venture. At its peak, we were processing over 500 orders per day. However, due to operational challenges, we struggled to fulfill orders efficiently. Then came the COVID-19 pandemic, which completely disrupted our business, and despite our best efforts, we couldn’t revive it.

Returning to Exports and Finding My Calling

After exhausting multiple business ideas, I finally turned to my father for guidance on exports. However, despite his vast experience, he couldn’t provide structured training, as he was never a teacher. This led me on a journey to find my own mentors. I traveled across Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, and South India, learning from some of the most renowned export trainers. However, as a student, I realized there were gaps in their teaching methods that needed improvement.

It took me two years to fully understand the export process and identify the flaws in existing training programs. One of the biggest challenges I noticed was that pre-recorded courses were too boring and lacked engagement. Additionally, most export coaches did not take accountability for their students’ progress, making it difficult for beginners to succeed.

Bridging the Gap in Export Education

Despite the challenges, I strongly believe that India needs more export coaches to help businesses scale globally. While I now consider myself one of them, the demand for structured and accountable export education remains immense. This realization led me to create a comprehensive and action-oriented export training program.

To achieve this, we are launching a cohort-based online import-export course that ensures students are held accountable for their progress. This program is divided into two levels:

  • Level 1: Priced at ₹5,000 + GST, designed to filter out serious students who are committed to learning the fundamentals of exports.

  • Level 2: Priced at ₹54,000 + GST, offering in-depth training, mentorship, and hands-on guidance to help students establish a successful export business.

A Partnership in Growth – Sourav Mishra

Throughout my journey in exports, one person who has been an integral part of my growth is Sourav Mishra. Sourav has been with me for the past five years, learning alongside me and evolving into an export coach himself. Together, we have navigated the complexities of global trade, continuously refining our knowledge and teaching methodologies. His insights, dedication, and expertise have played a crucial role in shaping AAIE.in into a platform that truly empowers aspiring exporters.

Sourav and I share the same mission—to bridge the gaps in export education and make international trade accessible to all. His presence adds immense value to our coaching programs, ensuring that students not only receive theoretical knowledge but also practical, hands-on guidance from two passionate export professionals.

Why This Course is Different

Exporting is not complicated, but it requires the right mindset, discipline, and consistent action to integrate it into your daily routine. This course is not just about education; it’s about ensuring that students take real action towards building a successful export business.

Our Mission

Through AAIE.in, Sourav and I are committed to empowering aspiring exporters, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers with the right knowledge and support to succeed in global trade. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to scale, we are here to guide you every step of the way.

From Inheritance to Innovation: My Journey in Exporting

JAN 2021

In January 2021, I stepped up and dedicated myself to learning the basics of container filling and dispatching. This included managing the shipment of a 40-foot container of tobacco to Europe.

FEB 2022

After a year of struggling to learn about export-import on my own, I decided to seek guidance from a mentor. My first formal training took place in Ahmedabad, marking the beginning of my structured learning journey in exports.

JAN 2023

After identifying the gaps in export education and learning through my own experiences, I pursued more courses and training to understand the challenges faced by others like me. This journey inspired me to create AAIE, a platform designed to bridge these gaps and empower aspiring exporters with the right knowledge and support.

Journey Continues

My first experience as an exhibitor was at the Canton Fair in China, where I showcased hand tools alongside my father's friend, Tejpreet Singh (TP) Uncle, who had over 25 years of experience in international sales. This opportunity taught me the art of communication in global trade and the critical importance of having in-depth knowledge of your products.

At the Canton Fair, I exhibited hand tools with TP Uncle and met international buyers. This experience taught me the importance of product knowledge, communication, and relationship-building in global trade.
